For Thursday’s session we’ll try out an idea I recently heard of to make running in a mixed ability group more sociable. The upsides are we’ll see a lot of each other, all finish together and escape the dreaded intervals for another session.
The session is called Loop Back.
It’s a simple run round town, with a twist. The basic route is 4 miles: Banbury Rd, up Humphries, along Halse Rd, Oak Rd, Radstone Rd and back along the High St. There shouldn’t be too many navigation issues!
The twist is that only the slowest runner(s) will simply run the route once. There are 4 points at which the other runners will “loop back”. These are:
1. Top of Humphries Drive (roundabout with Falcon & Nightingale) 2. ATS (end of Radstone Rd) 3. Costa (High St) 4. Brackley Town FC
When you reach each loop back point (the first time), turn around and retrace your steps until you reach the back of the group. We will nominate a “back marker” to stay at the back of the group so everyone knows who to look out for. When you reach the back marker, turn around again and continue with the route until you reach the next loop back point. The faster you run, the further you’ll have to loop!
When we all get back to the club (together) we’ll have a short cool down up and down Churchill Way and stretch off (unless it’s raining).
Confused? As ever, you will be. See you there!
